late again...

...as always.

Sometime inbetween my last post and now, I ended up in Lisbon as a sort of poor man's tour guide for my cuz and some friends; mainly because I had previously spent quite a bit of time living/sorking there. Of course, that was also the bad side of ten years ago so many things have changed but at the same time, some things hadn't and the occasional fit of familiarity was nice.

As usual we planned on getting a small apartment for our stay but somehow, it ended up on my shoulders to go and pick a place in a good location. Me being me, I had a spot in mind and hunted furiously for a place that I liked the look of and here is where we ended up.

Living Room with Balcony Facing the River

Dining Area under stairs/gallery/balcony

The "Boys'" Bedroom

Weird Ass Hand Chair that others said was mine

Cool looking but useless double steel handbasins in upstairs bathroom

What you can't tell is that the apartment was smack bang in the Alfama area of Lisbon; that is, it is part of the old town. What this meant was that it was set on a hill and overlooked terracotta tiled roofs (rooves?) all the way to the mouth of the Tagus. Actually, if I were to be pedantic about things, "all the way" is a bit of an exaggeration as the river was barely 500m away.

Shots from the balcony.

Could never get a good snap in the morning (the only time when we were in) because the sun rise was right where you didn't want it. Still, not a bad thing to wake up to, eh?

Right above our apartment was a miradouros looking over pretty much the same scene that we did venture onto a couple of time to chill.

And finally some obligatory postcard shots.
